CHICHEN ITZA & EK BALAM PRIVATE TOUR |
CHICHEN ITZA |
This sacred site was one of the greatest Mayan centers of the Yucatán peninsula, it is located 2.5 hours west of Cancun. Throughout its nearly 1,000-year history, different cultures from central and southeast Mexico have left their mark on the city. The Maya, Toltec and Aztec vision of the world and the universe is revealed in their stone monuments and artistic works. The fusion of Mayan construction techniques with new elements from central Mexico make Chichen-Itza one of the most important examples of the Mayan-Toltec civilization in Yucatán. Several buildings have survived, such as the Warriors' Temple, El Castillo and the circular observatory known as El Caracol. |
The Chichen Itza's Mayan city represents the most intact and impressive of the Ruins of the Mayan civilization that the modern world preserves. It has the record best restored of the way of living spiritual, domesticate, and of the agriculture of the Mayan ancestors. Its culture has influenced many areas of architecture, art, and astronomy of our modern world. |

EK BALAM |
Ek Balam, also known as the City of the Black Jaguar, is a ruin site of an ancient Mayan city. This ancient city reached the height of its importance from 600 to 900 CE until it was abandoned. After it was abandoned, it was literally engulfed by the surrounding jungle and only recently discovered and excavated. Ek Balam features four beautiful buildings with intricate Mayan carvings and sculptures, many of which are still very visible

One of the largest restored buildings in Ek Balam is La Torre. The base of La Torre is extremely large measuring over 500 feet long and approximately half as wide and nearly 100 feet tall. The impressive La Torre can be climbed allowing you to get a close up view of the stucco work lying beneath each thatched roof. Just about at the top you will find a Chenes style serpent mouth doorway which is intricately carved from eyebrows to molars. You will find some of the best restoration work on the most intricate carvings on the La Torre.
